Barnard 142-143 in Aquila

Object Description: Number 143 in E.E. Barnard's catalog of Dark Nebulae, in the center of the image, along with Barnard 142, the elongated nebula at the bottom, form what is popularly known as “Barnard's E”. Dark nebulae consists of very fine dust and molecular hydrocarbons. At the center of these nebulae exists some of the coldest places in our galaxy, just a few degrees above absolute zero. They are also the sites of future star forming regions
