M8 – M20 – M21 in Sagittarius

Object Description: Three Messier objects in one FSQ field of view. Open cluster M21 on the left of the image, M20 on the upper left and M8 on the right. A rich complex of emission, reflection, and dark nebula, as well as star clusters and the deep star fields of the Milky Way.

Camera: Canon 40D modified w/ Baader UV/IR cut filter
Mount: ParamountME unguided

Sky Conditions: 21.91mags/arcsecond^2, transparency 2/5, seeing 2/5, temp 19C
Image Acquisition: 6x300s, iso800, using ImagesPlus3.5

Image Processing: ImagesPlus 3.5 used for data reduction, alignment, MinMaxExc combine, initial DDP. PSCS2 used for levels, curves, and star color enhancement. GradX for background equalization.

Comments: Clear sky has been rare lately, so I rushed to get this image done before the moon rose. Unfortunately, clouds rolled in before I could complete the planned acquisition and I only ended up with 6 subexposures. Amazing how much one can acquire under dark skies in a short time period.
