Mosaic of the North American Region in Cygnus

Object Description: The North American region in Cynus is a vast cloud of gas and stars. NGC7000 "North American Nebula" on the left and IC5067-IC5070 "Pelican Nebula" is on the right. This is a mosaic formed by two different framesets.

Telescope: Takahashi FSQ106N
Camera: Canon 40D modified w/ Baader UV/IR cut filter
Mount: ParamountME unguided
Filters: no filters

 

Date Taken: three nights 22AUG2008, 23AUG2008, 25AUG2008
Location: Lot4, Arcturus Way, Sacramento Mountains Astronomy Park, Weed, NM
Sky Conditions: transparency 3/5, seeing 4/5, temp 20C
Image Acquisition: 52x300s for the Pelican, 32x300s for the North American, iso800, using CCDSoft-gbdtDSLR and CCDCommander

Image Processing: ImagesPlus 3.5 used for data reduction, alignment, MinMaxExc combine, mosaic set, initial DDP. PSCS2 used for levels, curves, and color enhancement. GradX for flat and background equalization.

Comments: There is a blue reflection nebula, to the southwest of the Pelican, that I have not been able to identify. I have emailed CBAT of a possible new discovery.
