Object description: About 10,000 years ago a Type Ia supernova created a large ionization remnant today known as the Cygnus Loop or the Veil Nebula. This is the Western part of the Veil Complex located in the constellation Cygnus, with NGC6960 "The Witch's Broom" in the upper right of the image and NGC6979 "Pickering's Triangle" in the center left. Image was created from separate exposures of narrowband filtered wavelengths of Sulphur, Hydrogen and Oxygen. Combined in what is commonly called the Hubble Palette Map.
